Fresh From The Farm | 2009 CSA Program - Sign up now! Thank you for your interest. We are accepting memberships for 2009. Our 22 week season will begin May 6th. For the 2009 season we are offering home delivery or pick-up here at the farm. See details on the CSA page. What is CSA?(Community Supported Agriculture) CSA is a program that establishes a direct link between the farmer and the folks who consume that farmer’s products. The farmer commits to providing the consumer certain amounts of fresh food weekly, for a predetermined number of weeks per year, and the consumer finances his or her share in advance. This program cuts out the middlemen, the long-distance transportation, storage, handling and related loss of nutrients. The consumer receives the freshest possible produce and the assurance that it was produced in a healthy manner using no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The farmer benefits from a reliable income. Happy Hen Farm, near Rochester, owned and operated by Lee and Ora Jacobson, practices sustainable agriculture. Our chickens are free range, having a large yard with grass to search out treats that Mother Nature provides. This supplements their regular feed.

Our 2008 CSA season has ended. We had a great bunch of subscribers; many of whom attended our Open Farm in August. In spite of it being a rainy day folks were out pulling carrots and green onions and digging potatoes. We adjourned to the big greenhouse for dinner with the buffet of Happy Hen Farm grown food spread out on one of the propagating tables and folks sitting on their lawn chairs in the paths between the parsley, basil and eggplant eating their dinner while the crickets sang for us. We are currently accepting subscriptions for our 2009 CSA program. You may join by filling out and mailing the application form with your payment or pay online using PayPal.
